Your donation to the endowment fund not only provides crucial financial aid to deserving students but also recognizes and supports the invaluable contributions of our esteemed faculty members. Through the fund, we empower industry-academia cooperation and joint research projects, harnessing the collective expertise of students, researchers, staff, and faculty within our department. Additionally, your support fosters academic and research collaborations on a global scale, strengthening partnerships between our department and prestigious universities and research institutes both domestically and abroad.

Your donations will be used in the following three heads:

Financial Aid to Students

The fund will provide scholarships and financial assistance to the regular and needy students of the department.

Financial Support for Research and Development Activities in the Department

The fund may provide

  • Financial support for industry-academia cooperation and joint research projects involving students, researchers, staff, and faculty of the department.
  • Financial support for academic and research collaborations between the department and other universities and research institutes within the country and abroad.

Improving the Infrastructure

The fund may facilitate the acquisition, maintenance, repair, and upgradation of laboratory equipment by the department.

The Board

The fund shall be managed by a board consisting of the following:

  1. Vice-Chancellor (Chairperson)
  2. Dean of the Faculty of Chemical, Metallurgical, and Polymer Engineering (ex-officio)
  3. Chairperson of the department (Secretary)
  4. One (1) outside member to be nominated by the syndicate
  5. One (1) member to be nominated by the alumni

Investment and Spending Policy

The protected capital of the fund shall be invested in any or all of the following options:

  • Profit-and-loss-sharing and fixed-deposit accounts maintained at scheduled banks
  • Investment accounts maintained at financial institutions approved by the regulators
  • Savings certificates issued by the government.

To safeguard the sustainability and purchasing power of the fund, a minimum of twenty percent (20%) of the gross disposable income available at the start of the financial year shall be reinvested as protected capital. Any portion of the disposable income unspent at the end of the financial year shall also be reinvested as protected capital. No investment shall be made in options with a risk rating described by keywords such as “volatile” or “high” or any variation thereof.

For the distribution of the net disposable income, requests for financial support shall be assigned weights based on the following priorities:

  • Operation of the fund – Essential
  • Students – Very High
  • Industry-academia collaboration – High
  • Laboratory equipment maintenance and repair – High
  • Academia-academia collaboration – Medium
  • Professional events at the department – Medium
  • Laboratory equipment acquisition or upgrade – Low
  • Professional events elsewhere.- Low
